Create a bee meadow
After 9 years of monoculture we created two bee areas in our garden. It was implemented really quickly.
I bought several high-quality and bee-friendly flower seeds, mixed them and planted them into the lawn. To do this I drilled small holes in the ground with a knife and placed two seeds in each hole, pressed them in firmly and watered the seeds.
Week 3 - It looks like weeds
It was one of the hottest summers ever in Germany.
Watering was an everyday task in summer 2019
It took so long to see the first flowers.

Bees and butterflies visit all day long
Bees and butterflies were the main actors in my meadow.
It was obvious that the bees were only interested in this new meadow.
I bought bee-friendly perennial plants for the second bee area. It is easy to buy the right plants - I observed which flowers were visited most by the bees in the garden center.

We visited the flower meadow every day. Next year we are planning an even bigger garden with friends.
It is a good idea to plant flowers for bees on the balcony or terrace as well. If you buy flowers that are suitable for bees, it is a pretty good decision.

As pollinators, bees play a part in every aspect of our complex, interconnected ecosystems that allow a diverse number of different species to co-exist.
